Every year Decanter chooses a a Rising Star to recognise an up-and-coming talent. This year’s award goes to Apostolos Thymiopolous – a winemaker who is rapidly taking Greece onto the world stage.

Apostolos Thymiopoulos, based in Naoussa in Macedonia, northern Greece, is far more than a fabulously talented winemaker. He has become the ambassador for Greece’s new wines and winemakers, taking Greece beyond the southern Mediterranean and establishing it on international markets.
Having started in the beginning of 2000s, by releasing his famous Earth & Sky in 2005, he has become well-known in the UK and other markets worldwide.

He has always wowed people with ‘impeccable elegance and authenticity’.
